Gainfully employed

So, the good news is – I got the job (no, don’t worry, you haven’t missed anything, I’ve not blogged about this before) and have an induction on Sunday morning when I’ll find out what hours I’ll be working and how many.

And the bad news is … I got the job so can kiss goodbye to most of my non-piggie free time.

But, the good news wins as this way we get to pay all the bills, put fuel in my car and maybe even eat!

And how am I spending my last days of freedom?

Curled up on the bed with the lurgy monster who only seems to want to play when I’m resting. Which has been good as I’ve managed to get a fair amount done outside today without feeling like poo but makes curling up on the bed with the laptop rather uncomfortable.

But the dogs and cats are happy – Snipe and Midge are in their bed, the boys are asleep on our bed and even Queenie has decided to join us and is asleep in one of the four cat beds we have in the bedroom. Apart from the 5 way snoring, it’s very peaceful!

Attack of the lurgy monster

I’ve been waiting and waiting and it’s finally happened. Jennie and her clan went down last week and B came home from work yesterday feeling like poo so it was fairly inevitable that my immune system would also pack up and leave me to it but I’m rather surprised at how fast it happened. When I woke up at six this morning, I felt fine. Better than fine – I felt great.

But by ten o’clock, I started to feel a bit dubious and having checked to make sure that there isn’t, in fact, a band or strap pulled just a bit too tight around my head and that there is no evidence of my nose being stuffed with cotton wool, I’m forced to concede that the lurgy monster has successfully attacked.

Great – and the timing’s crap as B has got the whole weekend off work but all we’ll be able to do is snuggle up, snot a lot and pass germs back and forth. Mmmmm, sexy!

The first one has gone!

The first of Tia’s piglets has packed her bags and left home! It’s a bit complicated, but Itchy has gone to a wonderful home, that of Harold’s breeder and the sister of the owner of Harold’s papa, who is also the papa of Itchy and her sisters and brother – and Scrumpy’s piglets. Basically, we did a straight swap – one of her piglets (Harold) for one of mine. I don’t think want to know the rest, so I’ll save boring your socks off for another day and leave you to gasp in astonishment at these three photos, taken at different stages in Tia’s piglets’ lives:

Incidentally, Tia doesn’t seem to have noticed that one of her kids has vanished (either that or she’s so pleased she doesn’t dare let me know in case I bring her back) and seems quite happy with her remaining five. The only one of the piglets who looked a bit lonely was Scratchy who still looks a bit lost without his partner-in-crime. But I got two boxes of bananas from the lovely guys who supply me with my fruit and veg so they’re all stuffing themselves silly and loving it.
